Composite Resin Restorations

Do you have any minor chips, breaks, or cracks in your teeth that you’d like to fix? It’s perfectly natural for our permanent teeth to experience wear and tear in various ways. To combat these instances, our practice is pleased to offer patients composite resin restoration as part of our restorative services.

Why Do Teeth Crack, Chip, or Break?

Teeth can be damaged by accidents, sporting activities, and using your teeth to open things. You can also crack a tooth by chewing hard items.

Typically, weakened teeth are at a greater risk of breaking, chipping, or cracking. If you make a regular habit of eating or drinking certain types of foods, your tooth’s enamel can be broken down. This leaves the teeth exposed and at greater risk of being damaged.

Types of foods that cause damage to your enamel and tooth structure include:

  • Ice.
  • Popcorn kernels.
  • Hard candies.
  • Coffee.
  • Spicy Foods.
  • Fruit Juices.
  • Sugar.
  • Processed Foods.
  • Sodas and other sweet beverages.

If you damage a tooth, come see us. We will work with you to apply composite resin and restore your teeth to their former state. We may even be able to make them stronger than they were before.

What Is Composite Resin Restoration?

Composite resin is a type of filling material designed primarily to perform restorative functions on teeth with chips or cracks. It can also be used for filling cavities.

Also known as “white filling,” composite resin is carefully applied to chipped, cracked, or broken areas of the tooth and carefully shaped to fit into the existing space. A  unique dental light then cures the resin to harden it.

The whole process takes very little time and leaves patients with more uniform, uncracked, unblemished teeth. Your restored tooth is good as new!
